Опис: The article fo c u se s on the p ecu lia rities o f unreliable narrators in English prose, deviations in their speech. I t also touches upon the problem o f the m ain characters' speech in the navels o f Agatha C hristie «The M urder o fR oger Ackroyd» and Jam es H adley Chase «Come Easy - Go E asy» and in the tale « The Tell-Tale H eart» by Edgar A llan Poe. N arrative in these novels and the tale is p resen ted through na rra to r’s p o in t o f view a n d is characterized by a ll kinds o f different deviations. The p resen t stage o f linguistic research is characterized by an increased interest tow ards the problem connected w ith the study o fp ecu lia rities o f narrators ’ speech a n d its typical deviations in E nglish prose. D espite the fa c t that the stu d y o f the problem was investigated by m any scientists, the m ain types o f deviation fro m the norms o f literary language a n d standard deviation were not considered The problem s o f deviations in narrator’s speech are s till discu ssed by a lo t o f in fluential scientists. The relevance o f the chosen topic represents the description o f the characteristics o f n a rra to rs' speech and its standard deviations: phonetic, gram m atical an d syntactical used in the language o f the main characters. The use o f the typical devia­tions in narrators ’ speech p la ys an im portant role in literature. The aim o f our article is to determ ine the stylistic peculiarities a n d syntactical deviations fro m the literary norm in the speech o f the m ain characters. On the whole, the choice o f the vocabulary depends on the theme o f the navel, type o f the narrators, and the environm ent o f the characters, through whose p o in t o f view the story is presented. The choice o f unreliable narrators helps the authors to broaden the readers ’ outlook, to see the w orldfrom unexpected angles. The results o f the research can serve as a theoretical a n d p ra ctica l basis fo r fu rth e r study o f the peculiarities ofunreliable narrators ’ speech a n d its typical deviations. The prospects o f investigation are to describe the peculiarities of other unreliable narrators in English literature.
