One of the most promising trends in modern Linguistics is Anthropological Linguistics, which purpose is to study the language in close connection with the consciousness, thinking, spiritual and practical activity of man. The anthropological principle is the main and leading principle in many linguistic studies. According to it, man is regarded as the center and highest goal of the universe. Many scientific researchers pay particular attention to one of the types of onomastic units – the hydronym. Hydronyms are specific addresses of geographical features (rivers, lakes, seas, streams). Like geographical names, hydronyms are a peculiar language of geography. Hydronomy reflects the natural realities, the features of the territorial development, the worldview and outlook of the people, ethno-cultural and ethno-linguistic contacts and ideology. Increased interest in the study of hydronyms is due to the fact that, first of all, since ancient times the rivers have played an important role in the cultural and economic life of people. Secondly, hydronyms are less changeable over time, they sometimes reveal some traces of the existence of long-extinct languages in certain areas and reveal the important episodes from the history of ancient time and ethnic relations. To our mind, the study of hydronyms in fiction has additional linguistic value and pursues several goals: on the one hand, the use of a work by a certain hydronym allows the reader to navigate and determine the location of objects and even events. On the other hand, it is easier for the reader to understand the cultural and historical content of pre-existing objects of the human world and imagine the author's intention of transmitting events more realistically, when there are encrypted linguistic messages of the image of the hydronym. With the help of hydronyms, the author helps his reader learn about the past and understand the present by finding links between depicted terrain conditions and reflecting them in geographical names. The relevance of this article is to consider the author's idiostyle based on various lexical microstructures of the text in their specific aesthetic and stylistic conditioning and the analysis of the use of stylistic techniques in describing the Danube hydronym allows us to understand the whole peculiarity of the author’s language and his creativity.
